SHARING THE GOOD NEWS THROUGH VOICE Voice
magazine is one of the most powerful witnessing tools available. Thousands of
men and women receive a quantity of 50 or more copies each month to help tell
others that Jesus is the only answer. How effective is this? Read the following
testimonies. “One morning as I was standing on the platform of a New York subway, I began to walk towards the tracks, ready to throw myself in front of the train. Just before I reached the edge of the platform, God intervened. A Christian lady walked up and handed me a Voice magazine. I was so caught off guard that instead of jumping in front of the train, I boarded it and began to read the Magazine and received my salvation.” A new reader reports: “I’m just sick that a publication such as this has been around, and I didn’t know about it! I have been missing so much!” These are few of the hundreds of reports we have received from around the world.
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING TESTIMONIES TO VOICE MAGAZINE About our magazine Full Gospel Business Men's Voice is a 30 - 40 page , digest size, colour testimonial magazine designed for evangelistic outreach to men. Its circulation is currently approximately 300,000 throughout the world. Single copies are available for reference upon request. Only first person testimonies of men are published. We do not accept poetry, fiction, or "how to" nonfiction articles. Submitting your manuscript Type your manuscript on high quality white A4 paper (about 80 gm), 210 X 297 mm, double spaced, on one side only. Margins should be at least one 25 mm on all sides, and email to ntw@fgbmfi-nigeria.org. Alternatively, send the email by clicking this email ntw@fgbmfi-nigeria.org with the subject as "Testimony". Testimony should not exceed 1,500 words in length, unless specific agreement is first obtained from the Voice editor. Type your name at the upper left corner of each page, and follow it with the number of the page. If the testimony is not your own, enter the name of the person whose testimony it is; in addition, supply the entire name, address and telephone number of that person with the manuscript. Please provide the name, address and telephone number of an officer of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship who is acquainted with the person giving the testimony and who is familiar with the experience being related. In addition, if there are special circumstances in the testimony which may be verified by special persons, such as medical experts, etc., those references will be welcomed. Only those testimonies accompanied by a self addressed envelope and adequate return postage will be returned. All submissions are prayerfully considered and we attempt to respond to all manuscripts within 60 days. We can assume no responsibility for unsolicited material. Photographs VOICE is a full color magazine. When you send photos remember that the articles' appearance is directly related to the quality of the photos you send. Send a selection, of yourself, family, business and anything related to the testimony, that will help in a powerful presentation. Your photos will be returned (please send a SAE) It is always better to send too many than not enough, we don't have to use them all. Preparing your manuscript... Voice is designed to appeal to the unsaved. Open with a "grabber". Avoid preachiness and ecclesiastical language. Use the Scriptures with discretion. Quote brief Bible passages exactly; double check; and include both the reference and the version of the Bible being quoted. Involve the reader. He must be able to identify with the problem. Then through an honest witness. he must be encouraged to believe that God can be the answer to his personal need. Description is important! Let him see the sights, smell the smells, and hear the sounds. Let him experience the emotions of the central character in the situation Be honest. God is able! He does not need our exaggeration to help Him. Check the facts. Beware of fish stories that grow with the telling. Keep a healthy balance of content. Guard against that type of verbal testimony which spends fifty minutes wallowing in the sordid past and ten minutes telling how wonderful Jesus is. The following proportion is worth considering: •25% of the manuscript: "Before I met Jesus' •25% of the manuscript: "How I met Jesus' •50% of the manuscript: "The difference Jesus has made in my life since I met Him" Such a balance will help to prevent giving the false impression that "Full Gospel Business Men are saved, baptized in the Holy Spirit, problem free and live happily ever after!" Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International has been used of God to build bridges between nations, denominations and cultures, and its membership includes men in almost every church institution. It is important that no statement be made which could be interpreted as deprecatory to any Christian organization. |
